Animal Report

The next book report assignment for our class is a report on an animal.

Objective:
*Create a report from the notes you've taken as you read about your book about your animal.
*The report should include important information about your animal and an illustration and/or prop.
*Give an oral presentation on your report.

The report is on an animal that you have not
done a previous report on. Books will be checked out from
the school library. The entire report will be done in class. The only part of the report
to be completed at home is reading the book before Wednesday, Jan. 12. I have given each student a
form to write notes on as they read. The form is also available on my website and attach it to the weekly
message.
It will be easier to write the report if notes are taken as you read. If some of the
required information is not in the book,
look up that information on the computer or in another book.
We will be presenting the reports orally to the class.

Everyone must bring their book to class every day. Each day time will be given to read it in class.
You may take the book home to catch up on reading and taking notes, but be sure to return the book to
class each day. The reading needs to be done by Wednesday, Jan. 12. The following information should be included in the report: • What animal is this book about • Size • Length, height, weight of animal if this info is available • Life span • Tell about the habitat of the animal • Predators of the animal • The animal’s prey • 5 fun facts about your animal • Include the title of your book, the author, and your name • Picture of your animal I encourage students to take notes on the above information while reading.
Oral Presentation of Your Animal Report You will have up to 2 minutes to present your animal to the class. You should present the info on your
animal to the class and display your illustration/prop as you give your oral report, but do not read it. Be familiar enough with your animal that you can talk about it. You can write notes on index cards to refer to. End your report by telling which fact was the most interesting and if you would or would not recommend
the book. Remember: Giving a good talk means:
~speaking clearly
~speaking loudly
~looking up at the class ~know what you are going to say.
Practice several times first. Bring in an illustration and/or prop for your oral report. Animal Report Notes
