In third grade we begin using Planners on a daily basis. Each night parents should check their child's planner for daily homework assignments and important messages from school that day. Please be sure homework assignments have been completed and are put in backpacks before signing the planner. Table points are given for random planner checks.  Any class work not completed during the school day is considered homework. This work should be returned the next school day. Spelling words, vocabulary words, memory work, and worksheets will be sent home as weekly homework packets. These assignments will be sent as e-mails. Homework assignments will be for Monday-Thursday and they are designed to reinforce classroom instruction. Unless otherwise stated, these weekly homework assignments are due on Friday morning.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It is not my intention for third graders to be overwhelmed with homework. This is the reason I give the assignments out early in the week and do not have them due until Friday morning. If you know you have a busy week ahead, you can plan accordingly and still have your child show responsibility with their

assignments.

~The Kids Heart Challenge kicked off on Monday. The class with the most registered students gets a party and movie. The class was pretty excited about that, so if you haven’t registered yet, here is the information the American Heart Association sent.

-Dear Families,

Get ready to have fun and save lives! Kids Heart Challenge is starting on April 15th! Your student will learn about heart, brain, and vascular health, and get to meet kids with special hearts!  Our goal is to have 100% of our school families register and learn Hands Only CPR through Finn’s Mission.  Don’t wait, register TODAY!

Students who register early will be honored at our assembly!

1.     Register at http://www2.heart.org/goto/Hephatha or download the FREE

AHA Schools App for Apple or Android

2.     Complete Finn’s Mission in your headquarters

The American Heart Association is excited to extend their work with the NFL to support improving health outcomes at home and beyond through the Hands-Only CPR education. Students that complete the Finn’s Mission learning module will earn an entry for two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in 2025 and our school will be entered to receive a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover for every 18 completed Finn’s Mission.  Thank you for supporting our school and the American Heart Association!  Together, we are saving lives!

~There are only 6 weeks and a few days left of 3rd grade! Wow!!

~The science vocab test was Thursday. The corrected tests will be coming home in the homework folder on Monday. If you would like your student to retake it, they can retake it next Monday, April 29.

~ If you don’t have all of your PVP hours, you can get 1 hour credit for every $10 you spend for class supplies.
